Once Upon A Time…

As told by a traveling troupe of actors led by the cunning and charming Leading Player, Pippin is the story of a young prince, heir to the throne, who is searching for his own “corner of the sky.” Pippin returns from university certain that he will find a fulfilling purpose in life. As encouraged by the Leading Player, Pippin dabbles in bloody battle, temptations of the flesh, and savvy political maneuvers, only to discover that true happiness is more complicated than he thought. With infectious tunes by Stephen Schwartz and classic choreography from Bob Fosse, Pippin is both a humorous allegory about growing up and a tale of the danger of false appearances and empty promises.

More About Pippin and the Cast

The Webster Thomas Players present a unique interpretation of Pippin March 22 to 24, 2018 at Webster Thomas High School. Join the young prince Pippin (Tristan Altobelli) on his ambitious quest for purpose, led by a mysterious cast of characters and their Leading Player (CJ Garbin).

Along the way, Pippin’s family offers him dubious help. His stepmother, Fastrada (Kaitlyn Cottrell) and stepbrother Lewis (Liam Hatz) encourage a plot against his father, King Charlemagne (Josh Tombline), while his grandmother Berthe (Katie Baird) suggests Pippin just lighten up and enjoy life. Audiences will be seduced by the many, intriguing personalities who entice Pippin to chase glory, pleasure, and power.

When Pippin meets Catherine (Tessa DeGrace) and her son Theo (Isabelle Nitsch) their “average, ordinary” existence can’t compete with the “superlative” life he’s convinced he’s due, and he must decide what fulfillment really means.

Featuring a deep ensemble cast, live orchestra, and accomplished dancers performing classic choreography by Bob Fosse, this spectacular production brings to life the infectious tunes of Stephen Schwartz and will leave audiences humming their way out of the theatre.

Pippin is so relatable to anyone who’s ever struggled to find their way in the world,” shared director Brenda Nitsch.
